You can use the RS422 port of the MTCHIO without any Mykerinos connected.
Note that the other connectors, Video Ref, Wordclocka and LTC can only work with a Mykerinos.

To be able to use MTCHIO 9 pin module without Mykerinos, you must remove the jumper from JP3 ( 5V from the Mykerinos board through the 16pins ribbon cable connected to the Video/TC header ) and put it on JP2 (5V from the PC power supply through a Molex connector)
