Pyramix v10.1 projects are not be backwards compatible with the previous Pyramix releases.
In order to open such projects in the previous release, please make sure that you perform the proper Save Special. A Save Special “Save as Version xx” was added to the list.
v10.x Libraries format are not compatible with older Pyramix release as v7.1.
Save as v7.1 is available in the Library menu.
Pyramix v10.0 has a warning message of “Not Enough Streams available”.
This happens when reaching the maximum record inputs available. In such case we recommend that you reduce your inputs number count or disable the Background Recorder that are consuming inputs.
If you afterwards get a constant Message Box “Re-activating Project” at each Playback start, close and re-open your project to avoid this.
Be aware that under the VS3 Control Panel if you have enable the Secondary Device/ASIO bridge or Rewire active, you will consume Streams, disable this option if not in use.
Pyramix Multi channel PreAmps support
Multichannel MCS strips do not support the PreAmps control but VCA strips does.
Make sure that you install the latest Horus Firmware for proper communication.
VST Plugins not seen under Pyramix v10
By default the “\Program Files\VstPlugins” directory will be scanned.
User can select their VST plugins directory by going under the Pyramix Settings>Mixer>VST Plug-ins Settings and adding the directory where the installed VST plug-ins are.
The initialization of third parties VST plugins takes place at the Pyramix Launch and can take a long period of time (Close to 4 minutes for a Waves plugins bundle scan) on the first scan.
Be patient if you see that your Splash screen remains in display.
If a crash occurs during the scanning the VST scan will be automatically relaunched, up to 3 times in a row, if a fourth crash occurs the user will be ask if he wants to relaunch the VST scan.
The faulty plugins dll will be displayed in red.
Force Rescan (From Pyramix Settings>Application>Mixer>VST Plugins) will retry to register the VST blacklisted plugins.
Pyramix v10 – 64bit does support natively 64bit VST plug-ins.
A workaround for VST 32bit plugins users under a 64bit OS is possible by simply installing the jBridge third party application, without running jBridge (no need to create 64bit proxy VST dlls).
32 bit Waves plugins not supported by Merging when using jBridge under a 64bit OS. Please use Waves 64bit plugins in such case.
Merging is not responsible for any eventual instabilities and side effects caused by the use of jBridge.
Background Recorders: Can cause a "Runtime Pure Virtual Call" error crash when removed.
Do not have the Background Recorders that you want to remove selected in the Transport.
Please monitor you memory usage and it might be a good thing to reduce the Pre-Buffering and the track record count.
Take logger buttons do not show up in dialog, Rating icons not visible
Go under Windows Control Panel > System > Advanced System settings.
Select the Advanced button Settings under Performance.
Enable desktop composition and enable « Animate controls and elements inside Windows ».
Relaunch Pyramix.
Final Check Metering is not supported in DXD/DSD
Timeline and Realtime Sampling Rate Conversion: clicks or noise may occur when doing playback or mixdown
Current limitation of the real time SRC :
When 2 overlapping clips reference the same media with different sampling rate than project, noise will occur on the overlapping section.
Convert those medias to the project's sampling rate, prior to using such a workflow.
Cannot navigate from a Media Marker to the other.
To navigate from a marker to the other can be achieved by selecting the media and using the Tab keyboard key.
Make sure that under your keyboard editor under “Cursor and Marks” you must have TAB in the Nudge Cursor to Next edit command.
You can also map TAB +Shift for the Cursor Previous Edit navigation.
> You have multiple stalls and Pyramix aborts the SACD Edited Master processing.
Merging does not recommend that Edited Master are generated Realtime, but rather in Non-Realtime. Especially when using delta's such as Trellis.
> Cannot load DSD / DST files into the SACD disc builder interface, with error "Files.dll not registered (Philips DSD)".
Manually register the Files.dll found under C:\Program Files (x86)\PhilipsSACD :
1. Perform ALT +R to open Windows run command.
2. in the Run command type regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\PhilipsSACD\Files.dll" (for 32 bit OS use this line regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\PhilipsSACD\Files.dll").
3. Enter and confirm registration, then relaunch application.
> MT5625: Generate CD image will not stop past last Marker if project is in Safe Record mode.
> Noise generated when playing DSD64, DSD128 or DSD256 medias into a DXD project.
Playback of DSD media files in a DXD project requires that you Enable the Hepta SRC under your Pyramix Settings.
> Mykerinos mode only: crash if VCA is the first strip in the mixer.
crash in VS3ui.dll if the first strip of the mixer is a VCA group.
> Media Manager: Sampling Rate conversion can create duplicated medias in Media Manager.
> Library and Media Manager: Copy / Paste not possible if Tab is undocked.
> Media Manager: Columns can show up empty and stay empty.
> Convert: might create gaps at some edit points due to conversion applied.
> StripTools: not always opened from "Fx" track Header.
> Settings: Read only file should be open and be put in the Location database path (and not by default be placed under documents & Settings>user name).
1. Launch regedit32.
2. Go under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Merging Technologies\Pyramix\Settings.
3. Create a new string value and name it read only backup folder.
4. Set the folder path in the read only backup folder value data field (e.g. C:\Temp).
5. Launch Pyramix (read only file will be unzipped in the set folder).
> MT5549: Monitor Talkback section - AudioBridge mismatch.
> Secondary Audio monitoring glitches (devices revert to a 44.1kHz sampling rate).
In some cases trying to have less Modules connected under Easy Connect.
In some cases trying to reduce your screen display resolution.
> Mixer: Surround Panner values changes when going from Strip to Strips.
> Relink problems when referencing to .mxf media when above 2000 media files.
In Media Manager mount Folder containing the MXF files and do a Quick Export to PMF.
Working with PMF files do not show such limitation.
> Monitor Panel: If Max Volume is set to 0 dB you will not be able to adjust it from Monitor page.
> Trimmer: No cursor and playback location possible with some library snapshot.
> Project Convert DXD to MTFF or FLAC (to 2FS) end with wrong result.
> Playhead cursor might disappear in playback (Win7 Aero).
Interchange: AAF non-embedded export to Pro Tools 7x could generate "Could not complete your request because an unexpected error happened while trying to find an audio media file’s format" error.
We recommend to use AAF Embedded when exporting to ProTools 7. ProTools 8 is known to be working in such case.
> Cannot use DiscWrite or Import from CD with Pyramix v6.2 and higher.
Note that it is also possible that some other applications (Vegas, Nero, Sequoia) could see your Drive since they are using Nero or Sonic drivers (other technologies) and not the Gear specific Drivers that are used with DiscWrite.
Re-install Pyramix (maybe run clean up after un-installing Pyramix) or Re-install the Gear driver.
Prior to re-installing such drivers use the Gear Removal Utility below.
Find other Gear links that may be useful to determine if the drivers are installed and functioning correctly and other tips.
