What are the requirements to run Dante on my interface?

It requires before all that you have a Neumann MT 48 or Merging Anubis that supports Dante.
Make sure that you have the proper hardware revisions that supports Dante.
(Internal: communication on serials and deloyement date pending)

Why can’t I update the Dante firmware on my unit?

The Dante support requires that you have a certified hardware revision approved to be running Dante.
You will not be able to update the Dante firmware otherwise.

Can I run Dante and RAVENNA/AES67 on the same unit?

Yes, you can if your unit is a certified revision allowed to be running Dante.
Then you will have to run the proper firmware as there is a Dante firmware and a RAVENNA/AES67 firmware. This will imply differences in the specifications depending of the running firmware.

How do I run and purchase a Dante IO plan?

First make sure you update your MT 48 or Anubis interfaces so that they are running the Dante firmware. Only certified revisions of MT 48 and Anubis are authorized to install the Dante Firmware.
Once the firmware is installed connect your device to a system that runs Dante Controller. Form there open the Dante Activator that should discover your unit and propose 2 IO plans.
8 IO  or  64 IO
Note: if purchasing 8 IO you can later one upgrade to 64 IO without paying the full price.

What is the complete procedure to run Dante on my certified Dante interface?

Please follow the Dante Quick Start guide.
(Internal: Pending two guides will be available the MT 48 on and Anubis one)

What is the Maximum Dante IO that I can run with MT 48?

64 IO, also applies to Anubis.

Why is the pricing different in my country than the Dante US pricing?

The price difference is due to FastSpring's exchange rate being applied to convert e.g. to Swiss franc as there’s IP detection to ensure tax is being correctly applied in different countries. FastSpring do make a small fee from it to pay for their bank services.
There is NO option to change the currency to USD in the Dante Activator production version. The currency is set according to users' location.

Is it true that the Dante mode has a greater latency than RAVENNA/AES67 mode.

This will greatly depend on how you are using the units. If using the Dante Virtual Soundcards the latencies can be greater. But if using the devices on a set up (e.g. Live) where they are all interconnected you will be able to reach similar latency and even possibly lower.

(Internal: latency measurements pending for Dante interconnections in standalone setups (no Dante Controller running once connections are established, no DVS)

What are the difference of running AES 67 on the Dante firmware vs. Running AES67 on the RAVENNA firmware?

There are many differences please consult our Table below.
(Internal: SPECS TABLE IN THE WORKS)

What are the Dante sampling rate supported vs. IO plan?

Dante Ready License Plan

Note: The Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS - ASIO/CoreAudio driver) Support channel count differs.

Is the Dante Reduncancy supported ?

Yes Merging Anubis SPS and Hapi MkIII do support the Dante Reduncancy or can be used in Switch mode. Please refer to the Dante Appendix for all details on the Dante Redundancy activation.

With MT 48 can I record in Dante and have a back up record in USB ?

Yes this is possible. We recommend recording to one system in Dante and having the MT 48 USB data port going to the backup system in USB.

Can I run in Dante mode with a USB connection to my system?

Yes you can, please verify the Specs Data Sheet when running in such mode.

(Internal: SPECS TABLE IN THE WORKS)

What is the lowest supported Dante AES67 latency in AES67 mode and the highest Sampling rate?

1ms is the lowest supported latency in AES67 mode.
48kHz is the highest supported sampling rate in AES67 mode
To run lower latencies and higher sampling rate we recommend running the RAVENNA/AES67 firmware.

When running my Interface in Dante mode will it unlock my VAD license?

The VAD only support RAVENNA/AES67 running units, please make sure you run the RAVENNA/AES67 firmware to unlock the VAD.

Can I use Merging MAD, VAD and ANEMAN in Dante mode?

No, please make sure you run the RAVENNA/AES67 firmware on your Merging interface to use those

What is Dante Ready and Dante Activator?

A Dante Ready device allows you to purchase and add audio channels to a device after initial purchase using the Dante Activator feature in Dante Controller.
Dante Activator FAQ and Troubleshooting.

In Dante mode, some settings, like latency, are not available on my device ?

Those settings (Master-Leader, Slave-Follower, External Sync, latency, …) can be accessed with the Dante Controller.
Some other settings, like Peering, NMOS,…do not apply to Dante Networks, and are therefore removed.

Unicast or Multicast ?

In Dante mode, default connections are unicast (point to point). You must specifically create a “Multicast Flow” in Dante Controller for Multicast.

How it works

  • Make sure you update your device to the Dante firmware

  • Connect your Dante Ready device to your system

  • Download and run Dante Controller (version 4.5 or later)

  • Open the Dante Activator tool from Dante Controller

  • Your device will be discovered, and you will see your purchase options

  • Add options to your cart, check out, then your device will be activated

  • Enjoy your additional Dante channels!
