Pyramix - Ovation Network Monitoring
The Network Monitoring feature provides automatic busses connection, mixer-based, without the need to manually create audio connections or route outputs in the mixer, to a Merging Anubis or Neumann MT 48, running the Monitor Mission.
Prerequisites
Pyramix 15.0.8 Hotfix 2 / Ovation 11.0.8 (or above)
Running in MassCore mode or Native mode with Merging Audio Device driver v2.6 (or above)Merging Anubis - Monitor Mission running firmware 1.9 (or above) in RAVENNA/AES67 mode.
Neumann MT 48 - Monitor Mission running firmware 1.9 (or above) in RAVENNA/AES67 mode.
Procedure
Remove any existing output connection from Pyramix or Ovation to the device (with ANEMAN for example)
Access the Settings in your Merging Anubis or Neumann MT 48.
In the General page, activate the Auto sample rate option.
Native - MAD users: make sure the Latency setting is the same as the one in the MAD Panel.
Go back in the Settings main page, and access the Monitoring > Sources page.
Access the Sources Settings, and activate the Auto Discover Sources option.Start Pyramix or Ovation and access the Settings > All Settings
In the Hardware section, activate the Enable Mixer outputs for Network Monitoring option.
Leave the Reserved number of channels for manual output connections to 0.Create a new project / show or open an existing one.
The output busses will be automatically connected to the device and available in the Monitor Mission sources, with Bus names and the corresponding channel mapping.
Those new Sources comes in addition to the existing ones.Note: the Mixer outputs number is not displayed when Network Monitoring is active.
Limitations
Device latency (framing) must be set manually
Merging Audio Device number of channels must be set manually in the MAD Panel.
Merging Audio Device maximum number of channels is 128@44.1/48 kHz (64@88.2/96 kHz, 32@176.4/192 kHz, 16@352.8/384 kHz
Busses with more than 64 channels not supported (e.g. Object Busses with more than 64 channels).
Discovered Sources are displayed for any selected Monitor.
Neumann MT48 only supported in RAVENNA/AES67 mode, USB not supported.
Merging Anubis or Neumann MT48 running in Dante mode are not supported, only RAVENNA/AES67.
Additional Settings
Sources Filtering
The Wildcard Filter setting allows to filter the discovered sources, based on the stream name.
Any character representing itself apart from those mentioned below. Thus c matches the character c.
? Matches any single character.
* Matches zero or more of any character.
[...] Sets of characters can be represented in square brackets.
By default, the Pyramix/Ovation streams are named DAW_ComputerName_BusNumber_BusName.
By default, the Monitor Mission wildcard filter is DAW_*
So any stream beginning with “DAW_” will be added to the device available sources.
This field is Case Sensitive.
Example - displaying sources from a specific computer:
If you want to only display Busses coming from a specific computer, you may enter either:
DAW_YourComputerName* (=any stream beginning with “DAW_YourComputerName”)
*YourComputerName* (=any stream containing “YourComputerName”)
Note: If the filter is set to discover a large scale available Sources in the network, it may slow down the Monitor mission UI.
Hide Muted Streams
Silent streams will be automatically removed from the Sources list if this option is active.
If the stream is no longer silent, it will be added back.
Note: The stream remains connected, but is hidden in the Sources list.
Reserved number of channels for manual output connections
This setting defines the number of channels that will be available for manual patching in the application.
This setting can be used for Direct out connections.
Those channels always begins on channel 1 (1-8, 1-16,…depending on the number of channels set).
Note: Those channels will have to be connected to the devices with ANEMAN or the Advanced pages.
Activating - Deactivating the Network Monitoring setting
When activating the Network Monitoring, current manual connections remain stored in the Mixer but are displayed in red if the corresponding channel is no more available, but will be available and properly patched on another system or when the channel becomes available when the feature is disabled.
Troubleshooting
Amount of Audio channels available for Network Monitoring not sufficient.
The number of Busses outputs exceeds the system capabilities:
Native - MAD users: go in the MAD panel > Advanced Settings, and increase the number of outputs (if possible).
If you have reserved channels for manual connections, please reduce it in Pyramix/Ovation settings
Reduce the number of busses in your project / show.
