Ovation 11.0 installation notes

  • Important note: Make sure you uninstall previous Ovation version before installing Ovation 11.0 Release

  • Ovation 11.0 Hotfix runs on the new Ovation 11.0 keys.

  • Ovation 11.0 Hotfix runs on RTX64 4.5.4 version. A MassCore Runtime update mandatory for MassCore users.
The RTX64 4.x license is only available in Pyramix 15.0/Ovation 11.0 keys (or above).

  • The Ovation 11.0 installer comes only as a 64bit version (64bit OS)

  • The Ovation installer will also install the corresponding Pyramix version, do not install separately.

  • Ovation 11.0 users must refer to the Ovation Installation Guide V11

  • Before you perform a Windows major version update on a system already running a MassCore, it is important for users to remove MassCore from the MT Security MassCore tab prior to performing a system update.
Take note that when selecting uninstall MassCore you will need to reboot your system as the uninstallation is completed during the system reboot.

    Note #1
We highly recommend users to defer the Windows updates, so that it does not harm your system here for details on how to defer updates on Windows 10  or on Windows 11
Windows 10 and 11 users should never update to Beta Windows version or major new updates before making sure they are supported by Merging.
    Note #2
Users wanting to perform a Windows version update must follow the procedure here  Windows Configuration Guide
Users that apply Windows updates must refer to the Merging Compatible Windows updates here  Once you have updated your Windows, follow the Pyramix and MassCore installation.

  • Windows Core Isolation – Memory Integrity is not supported by the Safenet driver, Discwrite Optical Drive driver (Gear) and MassCore (see Windows Configuration guide below)
MassCore users: Masscore is not compatible with the Memory Integrity feature, it has to be disabled.
Native - Sentinel Safenet users: a new driver can be installed manually, compatible with the Memory Integrity feature.

  • A Cloud Security (dongle-less) is available since Pyramix 25th Anniversary

  • The VB Plugins (VS3) are legacy; while it is still possible to use those plugins, there will be no more active development or support.
We do not recommend using such plugin as it can bring instabilities in Ovation 11 or Pyramix v15.

Native Installation Notes

  • Ovation 11.0 can be installed on Windows 10 – 64 bit or Windows 11  – 64 bit (see Windows version details above)

  • It is necessary to remove the previous Ovation and Pyramix versions, if present, from the Windows Programs and Features, and then reboot your system before installing Ovation.
Take note that when selecting uninstall MassCore you will need to reboot your system as the uninstallation is completed during the system reboot
If you are planning to update your Windows, it is recommended to first remove MassCore before performing the update. In such case follow the procedure document
    https://merging.atlassian.net/wiki/display/PUBLICDOC/Windows+Configuration+Guide
Updating Windows 10 to Windows 11 is potentially risky, please make a full backup of all your data before performing such update.

  • After installing Ovation 11.0, MassCore users will need to uninstall their previous MassCore from the MT Security setting, MassCore Tab, depending on the previous Ovation version you were running.
If there is an older version present you will be warned and required to reboot before updating to the latest version.

  • If your Ovation system never had a MassCore version before, users will have to install the MassCore Runtime from the MT Security Settings > MassCore tab.

Flux Plugins

  • With the release of Pyramix 15, Flux Plugins will no longer be included in any software pack for new customers. If you are purchasing Pyramix for the first time, Flux Verb and Studio will not be integrated by default.
However, existing users upgrading from a previous version via ASM can continue using Flux Verb and Studio. While these plugins will remain functional, they will not be adapted to the new graphical enhancements. You will still be able to update them via the Flux Centre when new versions become available.
Please note that owners of other VS3 Flux Plugin Packs will now require iLok authentication to be recognized and function properly. This transition scheme will be provided free of charge.
This change ensures compatibility while maintaining a seamless transition for long-time users upgrading to Pyramix 15.

Network Monitoring

Network Monitoring allow for automatically monitoring Mixer Busses from an Anubis or MT48 running the Monitoring Mission.
Mixer Busses are automatically published to the Monitor Mission by Pyramix/Ovation when loading or modifying a project and made available in the Mission Sources for selection and monitoring.
Busses Names, Channel Types and Bus ordering are published and properly displayed.
Note: MERGING ANUBIS or NEUMANN MT 48 firmware 1.9.0 (or above) required, running in RAVENNA/AES67 mode (Dante not supported)
Ambisonic busses not supported (due to channel mapping)

Ovation configuration

This feature is only available when the selected audio device in Ovation is Merging Audio Device when running Native, or MassCore.
In All Settings > Hardware > Audio Device > Network Monitoring, you can set the number of channels available for manual output connections (Channels reserved for manual I/O connections: [All, 0, 8, …]), all remaining available I/Os are allocated for Network Monitoring.
E.g. Having 24 I/Os available in MassCore or MAD, and selecting 8 Channels for manual connections will leave 16 Channels for network monitoring.

image-20250506-075340.png

Note: When changing this setting, current manual connections remain stored in the Mixer but are displayed in red if the corresponding channel is no more available but will be available and properly patched on another system or when the channel becomes available when the feature is disabled.

Note 2: Direct Out channels need to be patched to an output in order to be published to network monitoring. The patching needs to be consecutive without gaps.

Anubis configuration
This feature is only available in the Monitor Mission on both Anubis and MT48 (running firmware 1.9.0, or above) and needs to be enabled in: Settings > Sources

  • Auto Discover Sources : On

    • Wildcard Filter: By default, set to DAW* which will display all Pyramix/Ovation on the network.

      • To select one single Pyramix/Ovation station, set: DAW_<Computer Name of the Pyramix Station>*

      • For advanced filtering to discover a subset of available streamer on the network, please use a wildcard format (special character) offering many filtering options:

        • c Any character representing itself apart from those mentioned below. Thus c matches the character c.

        • ? Matches any single character.

        • * Matches zero or more of any character.

        • [...] Sets of characters can be represented in square brackets.

New MassCore RTX Implementation

Ovation 11.0 introduces a new RTX implementation (NAL).

  • The MassCore Network card is no longer used directly but through a RTX Virtual Adapter.
The card is no longer displayed in the Device Manager as a “Merging Technologies PCIe 82574L Ethernet Controller”, but is converted to "Intel 82574L Gigabit Ethernet Controller (RTX64)" and "Merging Technologies Primary Ethernet Controller".
When a MassCore Network card is detected, the MassCoreNIC Service will convert it automatically to the new scheme.  This operation can take a bit of time, so the 1st time the system sees a card that needs conversion, it can take 1-2 mins until it’s usable.

  • Once the MassCoreNIC card has been properly converted to the new scheme, the physical card (below in blue) will show as disabled, and is replaced by the virtual Merging Technologies Primary Ethernet Controller (below in green).

  • The Merging Technologies Primary Ethernet Controller (and / or Secondary)  is the one used for TCP/IP communications.
If a Static IP has to be used, it has to be set on this adapter.

  • New MSC NIC Card Support (1Gb Network card, based on Intel i210 PCIe)

  • ST2022-7 Mode (requires 2 MassCore NIC cards of the same model)
