Use Windows Audio with Anubis - Legacy RAVENNA ASIO driver (WDM - ASIO Bridge).

Objective

Anubis does not have a WDM driver, in order to Monitor your PC sounds (You Tube, Spotify,...) using Anubis with similar use as a built-in soundcard using a third party appliation will be required.
Find a poposal below.

Prerequisites

  • Windows PC system connected to the ethernet interface of the Anubis+Monitor.

  • ANEMAN v1.1.7 (or above) and Merging Ravenna ASIO driver (V12 or above) installed and configured.

  • An internet connection

Limitation

  • The Merging Ravenna ASIO driver is not multi-client.  If used with the VB Hi-Fi Cable-ASIO Bridge, other applications won't be able to use it.
You have to turn off the ASIO in the VB-Audio ASIO Bridge application or close the application to use it in another ASIO audio program.

Installation and confiugration

  1. Download VB Hi-Fi Cable-ASIO Bridge
    https://download.vb-audio.com/Download_CABLE/HiFiCableAsioBridgeSetup_v1007.zip

Note : VB ASIO Bridge is a donationware!
For END USER, HIFI-Cable & ASIO-Bridge are free to use! You pay what you want when you want if your find it useful.
Thanks for your participation!  Visit VB website

  2. Unzip the file, then right click on HiFiCableAsioBridgeSetup.exe and select Run as Administrator.

  3. When the installation is finished, reboot your computer.

  4. Go in Windows Control Panel > Sound
(you may need to set the Windows Control panel in small icons mode)

  5. Set Hi-Fi cable input as default device, by selecting it and clicking on Set Default.
Note : if you don't want to have the Anubis as your default device, but only use it for specific application,
go to step 8 and follow the instructions in the Tips section.

  6. Click now on the Properties button.

  7. Go in the Advanced tab, and click on the Default Format drop down menu.
    Select between 24 bit, 44100, 48000, 88200, 96000, 176400 or 192000 Hz.
This determines the default Windows sound sampling rate, which will be used by applications that cannot take control of Windows sampling rate (Windows music player, Spotify,...)

  8. Open the Merging Ravenna ASIO panel and make sure you have set at least 32 outputs (to get 8 outputs at 176.4-192 kHz)

  9. Go in the Anubis Settings page > General and activate the Sampling Rate > Auto option.
The Anubis will then automatically follow the requested sampling rate (for applications that can control the sampling rate).
Alternatively you may use the Aneman sampling rate zone feature (see Aneman User Manual for details)

  10. Start the VB Audio - ASIO Bridge application.
Click on : Select A.S.I.O Device, and choose Merging Ravenna ASIO

  11. Now click on ASIO OFF, to start the ASIO driver, the ASIO will turn ON.
Windows will inform you that the Merging Ravenna ASIO is started (if you have Windows notifications active).

  12. Now start ANEMAN (if not already started) and connect the ASIO to the Anubis engine.
(see Aneman User Manual for details)

  • Start the application.
  • Go in Windows Settings > System > Sound.
  • In Advanced Sound Options, select App volume and device preferences.
  • You may then set the Hi-Fi Cable Input as Output.

ASIO Bridge autostart

You may automatically start VB ASIO bridge at Windows Startup.
In the File drop down menu, select the System Tray (Run at Startup) option.

Be aware that in that case, VB ASIO bridge will start minimized, if you need to access it, right click on its icon in Windows notification area.

Note: Other applications could be used to Monitor your Windows sound with Anubis. Merging has for the moment not certified any other application.
