Install the Merging Audio Device driver for MERGING+NADAC on Windows.

System Requirements

Certified Windows Operating Systems (OS)

The Merging Audio Device Driver has been tested and qualified on Windows 10 Professional 64 bit.

Which Windows operating system am I running ?

RAVENNA/AES67 requires that the MERGING+NADAC is connected to a Gigabit Ethernet port.

The Merging Audio Device - WDM bridge is not compatible with Windows 7.
The ASIO driver is NOT supported under XP or Vista or any 32bit OS version. 

  • The Merging Audio Device driver supports up to 8fs (384 kHz, DXD or DSD64, DSD128 & DSD256) 
  • MERGING+NADAC will follow the sampling rate changes provided by the ASIO host.
    If several ASIO hosts are present, the Master ASIO Host (set in the Merging Audio Device panel) will determine the sampling rate.



Installation Procedure

  1. Download the Merging Audio Device driver Installer for Windows 
     
  2. Launch the Merging Audio Device driver Installer file.

    The installer may warn of pending requirements (Bonjour & Microsoft Redistributable C++)
    Accept and proceed with these installations.
     

  3. Accept the software license agreement.

  4. When the installation is finished, restart the computer, as prompted by the installer.

     MergingRavennaASIOdriver.sys location message during installation.

    If during the installation of a new Merging RAVENNA ASIO driver / Merging Audio Device driver, the installer ask you to provide the location of MergingRavennaAsioDriver.sys

    The Merging RAVENNA ASIO driver / Merging Audio Device driver has been updated, but as Windows keeps all driver versions in a hidden vault, you have to confirm the driver location.

    • Click on Browse
    • Windows should automatically propose the correct file path, but if not, please manually browse to  C:\Program Files\Merging Technologies\Merging RAVENNA ASIO Driver\Driver
    • Select the MergingRavennaAsioDriver.sys and click on Open.
      Then click on OK to close the message window.


  5. Plug the Ethernet cable from the MERGING+NADAC device / network switch on a standard Network Adapter on your computer, and turn on the device.
    Note : For better performances, Merging recommends to use a separate adapter.
     

  6. When the PC has rebooted open the Merging Audio Device Panel.
    Windows Start Menu - All Programs > Merging Technologies > Merging Audio Device Panel

    Note : Until both the driver and NADAC are properly configured, the panel Sample rate and State will show error (ASIO Clock missing).

  7. Switch to NADAC Mode and click on Apply


  8. If you have several Ethernet Adapter, please select the one your MERGING+ device is connected to (Primary adapter).
    Click on Apply.


  9. Set the Zones setting according to your needs, and click on Apply.

    Main : 1 Zone
    Main + Headphone : 2 separate zones.

  10. Now that the driver is configured, please go to the MERGING+NADAC OLED display. 
     

  11. Long Push the MERGING+NADAC Rotary button
     
  12. Select Sources Menu     
     

  13. Select the Source : your computer name should be displayed, select it.

     

  14. The Source will then be selected.

    Once selected, the Merging Audio Device panel Sample rate and State will no longer show an error message.

    Note: If the source is written in Red this would indicate that the Source is not valid.
    Please verify your connections and configuration in such cases, and reboot your computer.
    If it still do not work please refer to the NADAC Troubleshooting section.

  15. Now you can start your Media Player application and configure it to use the Merging Audio Device driver.

Additional notes on the Merging Audio Device panel


Status
section

Sample Rate: Shows the current Driver Sampling Rate

State: Shows the connected ASIO Host or warn user if no ASIO Host is connected.

Network Configuration section

Your MERGING+NADAC will appear in the online devices when properly connected.

Mouse clicking on the MERGING+NADAC icon will open the MERGING+NADAC app which allows some remote control functions

Leaving your mouse over the MERGING+NADAC icon will give you the addressing details  

ASIO Settings section

Master ASIO Host : Allows to set a Master application, that will act as a Master sampling rate device.
This list is dynamically populated, the first time you start an application set to use the Merging Audio device, it will be added to the list.
When a Master ASIO host is set, other applications cannot change the sampling rate.
If left to Default, any application can change the sampling rate any time.
If set to Merging Audio Device, you can set the sampling rate from the panel, and ASIO applications cannot change it.
Some applications may not support such sampling rate change, refer to the manufacturer for details.
Changing the sampling while recording / playing back will obviously create drops, do not change the sampling rate during crucial real-time operations.


Audio and Video Sync

If you use the NADAC with MAD and listen to video it is important that you set the NADAC Playout setting to Pro mode in order to have the Video and Audio in sync.
Go to the NADAC System page and under Playout Delay select PRO mode.

 
Video and Audio should now properly be aligned. If you also use NADAC in parallel with Anubis then PRO mode is also recommended.

Warning: If your MERGING+NADAC icon is as such  it indicates that your MERGING+NADAC cannot be reached.

Clicking on the NADAC icon will give you the status error at cause

Example: Not Reachable.

Verify your set up connections and reboot your MERGING+NADAC
