Anubis SPS - Secondary / Backup recorder.
1.Without additional network switch
SetUp
Use Anubis SPS redundant / dual network feature to run a secondary - backup recorder.
Prerequisites
- Anubis SPS device.
- Two computers running either MassCore or ASIO or VAD drivers.
- DAW with installed Merging Audio Device driver (previously Merging RAVENNA ASIO driver), MassCore (Windows) or RAVENNA Virtual Audio Driver (Mac).Â
Follow the Get Started with Anubis pages for details.
Procedure
For this specific workflow the Anubis must be set to network switch mode.
Go to the Anubis General settings and disable ST2022-7.
A reboot is required.- Connect your Primary computer network to the top port of the Anubis SPS -Â port #1
- Connect your Secondary computer network to the bottom port of the Anubis SPS - port #2
- Make sure both your DAWs RAVENNA/AES67 settings are configured accordinglyÂ
IP addresses have to be in the same range.
Network Latency have to be the same (see the Latency setting in Anubis Settings > General ; Merging Audio Device > RAVENNA/AES 67 Settings ; MassCore > VS3 Control panel ; VAD > System Preferences > Merging RAVENNA/AES67)Â - Start your DAW on both computer, then start Aneman.
- To avoid sampling rate issues, it is recommended to create a sampling rate zone, and set the Anubis SPS as Master.
- Connect the required Anubis inputs to both your DAW.
- Connect the required DAW outputs to your Anubis, on 2 different Anubis Sources.
(see this page on how to create Anubis Sources)
You can then choose to listen to a specific DAW or sum both from Anubis UI (Monitoring mission).
2.With redundant network (advanced)
SetUp
Use Anubis SPS redundant / dual network feature to run a secondary - backup recorder.
Prerequisites
- Anubis SPS device.
- Two computers running either MassCore or ASIO or VAD drivers.
- At least one Managed network switch, configured with 2 VLANs, or two Managed network switch, properly configured for RAVENNA/AES67
See this page for Merging RAVENNA/AES67 validated network switches and configuration guides. - DAW with installed Merging Audio Device driver (previously Merging RAVENNA ASIO driver), MassCore (Windows) or RAVENNA Virtual Audio Driver (Mac).Â
Follow the Get Started with Anubis pages for details.
Procedure
For this specific workflow since we are here on two different networks (RAVENNA & Home) the Anubis must be set to ST2022-7 mode.
Go to the Anubis General settings and enable ST2022-7.
A reboot is required.- Connect your Primary computer network to the first Network switch (or VLAN1 if you use a single network switch with 2 VLANs), then from the switch to the top port of the Anubis SPS -Â port #1
- Connect your Secondary computer network to the second Network switch (or VLAN2 if you use a single network switch with 2 VLANs), then from the switch to the bottom port of the Anubis SPS -Â port #2
- Go to the Anubis General Settings and scroll to the Network configurations.
Network 1 and 2 should be on different IP range
In our example we will set Network 1 on IP 192.168.1.107 subnet mark 255.255.255.0), and Network 2 on IP 169.254.1.2 subnet mark 255.255.0.0.
Go to manual mode if you need to edit those. On the primary computer , set the RAVENNA/AES67 network adapter in the same IP range as Anubis Network 1, in our example 192.168.1.99Â subnet mark 255.255.255.0.
On the secondary computer , set the RAVENNA/AES67 network adapter in the same IP range as Anubis Network 2, in our example 169.254.1.99Â subnet mark 255.255.255.0.
Please consult this page for further help on IP addresses manual configuration.- Make sure all devices RAVENNA/AES67 latency settings are configured accordingly :
Anubis Settings > General ; Merging Audio Device > RAVENNA/AES 67 Settings ; MassCore > VS3 Control panel ; VAD > System Preferences > Merging RAVENNA/AES67 - Start your DAW on the primary computer, then start Aneman, and connect the required Anubis Inputs and outputs.
To avoid sampling rate issues, it is recommended to create a sampling rate zone, and set the Anubis SPS as Master. - Repeat the same operation on the secondary computer, but connect the outputs to a secondary Anubis source.
(see this page on how to create Anubis Sources) - You can then choose to listen to a specific DAW or sum both from Anubis UI (Monitoring mission).
ST2022-7 Remote control:
First Ethernet Port Web Server is available on port 80 (i.e. 192.168.1.107:80)
Second First Ethernet Web Server is available on port 81 (i.e. 169.254.1.2:81)
A secondary - redundant computer can be used as a backup recording device.
